Kinect 2.0 No Longer A Requirement; Still Bundled

 

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One’s “revolutionary” sensor, “Kinect 2.0” will not be necessary to use the Xbox One. While this does rule out government surveillance, it still doesn’t help the immensely pricey price. The Xbox One’s biggest struggle is it’s price, the more powerful Playstation 4 is a whopping $100 cheaper. That gap in price, coupled with the slight gap in power leaves clueless consumers to believe the Playstation 4 is automatically the better buy. While the Xbox One has been getting a lot of negative press lately, I honestly believe it’s a very good system, and once those must have exclusives are released it will be sitting in nearly everyone’s living room by the end of it’s life cycle.

Xbox One Includes A Headset!

The Xbox One will include a headset! No, I’m serious, trust me! While Major Nelson was doing an official unboxing of the Xbox One he pulled out of the box, I shit you not, a headset. What do you guys think? Are you happy about this? or were you going to use the Kinects mic?

Pikmin 3 Review (NO SPOILERS)

 

It’s time to review the Wii U’s savior, Pikmin 3. I know what you’re thinking, John, was it worth the wait? Is it the Wii U’s savior? Those questions and more will be answered with this review. Pikmin 3’s plot is not anything out of this world, in fact, the story is mediocre, at best. Let’s be honest though, who bought this game for the story? Not this guy! I’m going to be honest with you guys, this is my first Pikmin game, so I’m coming with an open mind. The games plot takes place on a planet they can PNF-404, the reason they head to PNF-404 is because their home planet Koppai has run out of resources to support it’s inhabitants, you set out to find those resources. Simple, but then, things take a turn for the worst.

You crash land on PNF-404 which separates the 3 main characters from the game, Brittany, Alph (does not stand for Alien Life Form ;D), and Charlie. These characters all posses unique attributes that make them so different, yet they feel like you’ve know them for so long. You can find the imaginative, curious side of Alph in you, the sassy and intellectual side of Brittany as well, and Charlie’s tough outer shell filled with a creamy layer of soft is definitely within us all. The game has a total of 6 bosses, each with a large variety of strategy so you have to change the way you battle each boss extremely quickly, adding a very deep layer of strategy. 

Presentation:

This game has gorgeous visuals, in fact, the best we’ve seen on the Wii U. The fruit textures are near perfect, but they do falter somewhere, and that’s in the ground textures. While not every patch of grass looks bad, it is enough to stop your immersion in the photo realistic environment. While I am no graphics junkie, this game is truly spectacular, from the fruit textures, to the hair textures on enemies, this game is the best looking experience on the Wii U.

Gameplay:

It’s Pikmin, it plays like every other Pikmin game, while they didn’t innovate on the games actual gameplay, they did add features that were never possible on the Gamecube games. The Gamepad is that feature, the map is super useful, in fact, so useful, I probably would’ve taken longer without it. The map allows you to see areas you’ve been to. This creates a new level of depth for the games many puzzles. When I would run out of time in one day, I’d come back the next day, look at my map to figure out how I was going to maneuver my Pikmin in the coming 15 minutes. Speaking about 15 minutes, that’s exactly how long the days are. While there isn’t a limit on the days, there is a huge restriction in the day. Combat is as good as ever, but if you’re really into precise aiming, the Gamepad isn’t for you. If you don’t have a spare Wiimote + Nunchuk lying around, you’re going to have a bad time.

 Verdict:

Pikmin 3 is a must have game for every Wii U owner. Yes, it was worth the wait but, unfortunately it isn’t the Wii U’s killer app.

– No Online Multiplayer

– Best Option For Aiming Requires Different Controllers

 

Pikmin 3 is a great game, every Wii U owner must purchase it, I just don’t think it will make people buy the system
