I’ve been trying to do this for a while but, I never got around to it, now that I have a lot of free time on my hands I decided to do it. This list will be in order and each game will have a link to it’s trailer and a short explanation why I chose it.
10. Titanfall Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goe6IB1DLZU
The reason I chose Titanfall is very simple. I’ve always enjoyed the early Modern Warfare games, emphasis on EARLY. When I learned the devs from the original Modern Warfare titles were involved I lost it, I couldn’t believe they were working on something this epic. Mecs, guns, and fun in one game? Pre-purchasing on Steam when it’s available!
9. Bayonetta 2 Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amFu1hsOtuM
I never played the original Bayonetta, never even heard of it actually. When they announced this title I was surprised. If I recall correctly it was Sept. 13 2012 they announced this title, it caused an uproar when it was discovered to be a Wii U exclusive. I wondered why, then I was the gameplay for the original, and the game looked amazing. Simple as that.
8. Dark Souls 2 Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asgxfHZlQGk
I remember playing the original Dark Souls title for my PC, it was recommended to me by a friend, I said why not, I’ll try it. When I started playing I hated it, HATED IT! Then, a few weeks later I played it again, and was hooked. I completed it and then was anxious for a second one, hopefully with a proper PC port. When Dark Souls 2 was announced at the 2012 VGA’s, I went crazy and yelled in excitement.
7. Miyamotos New IP
This game is still unknown, yet I could’t sleep the day Miyamoto spoke about it, again. Then the next day, my excitement crashed, and I didn’t care anymore. I remembered when Miyamoto teased a new IP and it turned out to be Wii Music. That is exactly why it is number 7 on my list. I have so much hype and yet, I have little excitement at the same time, it’s more of a bipolar feeling really. He recently came out though, and reiterated it was a new world. 6. The Division Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJgMl3BahWY
Ah, Tom Clancy games, so good and so sweet. I’ve been into nearly every Tom Clancy franchise Ubisoft has published, from Ghost Recon, to Star Hawk, and to Splinter Cell. We are officially getting an MMO! Tom Clancy shooters and action games have all been great franchises, getting an MMO was the next evolution of the brand. Playing a game kind of like Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell in an MMO format? Shut Up & Take My Money!
5. Mario Kart 8 Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N374okq8SWY
Nintendo, this is the most gorgeous game in your great line-up of 2014 games. I never thought Mario Kart was going to show the graphical capabilities of the Wii U, I thought Zelda or Metroid, and yet no, it’s Mario Kart. Aside from the spectacular visuals, this game seems damn near perfect. The new zero gravity feature is a great addition to the already great game.
4. Yarn Yoshi
We only saw a glimpse of this game back in early 2013, no trailers, just a few screenshots. From what I’ve seen it looks like a spiritual successor to both Kirby’s Epic Yarn, and Yoshi Story for the N64. Yoshi’s Story was my favorite N64 game, and seeing a game that looks to be a lot like it makes me happy.
3. Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvudMu-5kIU
Do I really have to say anything? This is the Wii U’s biggest title, and definitely the most hyped one as well.
2. Zelda Wii U
This game has no trailer, or footage, or even screenshot. It is confirmed that Nintendo is developing it and will reveal it sometime soon, hopefully. An HD Zelda would be amazing, just imagine cruising through Hyrule Field on Epona in HD, huge render distance, 1080p, all that nice stuff.
1. X Link to trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6Q4ld4uqcY
The image of the actual article made this obvious, but hell, this game looks amazing. The best game, or at least on the top 3 was Xenoblade Chronicles. Monolith Soft is the king of the JRPG genre, seeing them make a brand new, open world title, that utilizes the Wii U’s raw power is just amazing,
